I bought this to cut down a bunch of damaged 8 to 10 foot Emerald Green Arborvitae's that didn't fare well during the heavy snow storms in the North-East this year. This chainsaw made quick work of them. I was surprised an electric chainsaw could be so powerful - I feel I definitely got a lot of bang for the buck. Be sure you have a high quality extension cord and don't forget the bar and chain lube (I bought Sears Craftsman brand locally for $3.00).

I had to take a tree down in my yard and didn't want to deal with a gas operated saw(I've had one before). Did some research and the Poulan Pro 400E was the saw that continued to be mentioned + you can't beat the price. It did not disappoint. Very powerful and not as noisy as gas saw. Don't worry, this isn't too big

Up until now, I've avoided buying a chain saw out of fear that I may injure myself. However, my pole electric pruner just wasn't cutting it for some of the larger branches that I wanted to cut. So, I decided to get an electric chain saw. Of course, I went to Amazon.com first and read saw all the excellent rating for this saw. I went to Lowes because I wanted to see what it felt like to hold it. This thing looked gigantic in the store and felt heavier than I expected in my hands. However, it was constrained by an anti-theft cable, so I could get a real feel for it. This seemed overkill. So, I looked at the 16" and 14" models. The 16" was just as heavy, but the 14" was super light. The reason for this is it's only 1.5hp. I almost bought it but was concerned that it would be underpowered and not much better than my pruner, and it didn't have all the cool features of the 400E. I ended up buying the 400E despite my reservations. I tried it out today. Wow! This thing cuts through small branches and trees like butter. I'm totally impressed. My reservations were unfounded. I now believe that the size and features make this chain saw safer and I'm very happy that I got it.

Pleasantly Surprised

I was quite hesitant to purchase this ... I wasn't sure how well a battery operated pole saw could really work. But, I have several other B&D battery operated items (weed whacker, leaf blower, etc.), and so far have been pleased with all of them. This was no exception. I don't have a lot of upper body strength, but I am able to support the weight of this easily. I am careful to check the chain for tightness and oil, and haven't had any problems thus far. It cuts through branches that are quite large without issue. Now, if someone could just invent one that hauls away the branches when you're done!

I bought this to help with the clean-up from last winter's ice-storm damage, and so far, have been very pleased. The motor seems to have ample power, and it cuts well. I was afraid the saw on the end of a 14 foot pole would be too heavy and unweildy, but is is surprisingly easy to keep it balanced. I was also pleased to note that, as soon as you release the trigger, the chain stops with no "coasting". And its nice ,too, that the B & D batteries will interchange with my hedge trimmer and string trimmer, so its easy to go to work with any one of them with extra batteries. Highly recommended.

The Black and Decker cordless limb cutter works exactly as advertised. The tool is very easy to assemble and work with. If you follow the directions in the owners manual you will have no problem cutting limbs with this tool. I have recommended this tool to friends of mine, one of which already ordered one from Amazon.com. The carrying case takes a little practice to get the broken down unit inside, but has plenty of room one the tool has been stored. Great tool and well worth the cost.

Works great for its value

The landscape companies wants to charge $100 to trim my tree, but I say screw them and bought this pole chainsaw. It works great and I can use it to trim and cut pretty much all trees/plants outside of my house now. I think I probably SAVE a few hundred bucks $$$ each year by using this chainsaw. The battery is great because I have other Black & Decker equipments that uses the same 18V batteries, so I have plenty of batteries for this and other B&D. products. 

The only thing that I wish this chain saw could do was make the battery connector attach to the chainsaw instead of the pole. That way I can use the chain saw WITHOUT any attach poles. Just like a normal chainsaw.

Best money I've spent in a long time

I have a 10-acre, naturally forested plot with about 3.5 acres cleared leaving a long perimeter of trees and heavy brush as well as a good number of trees left within the clearing. I own an assortment of tools, including a quality 20 inch gas powered chainsaw, an electric chainsaw, and a wide assortment of "man-powered" tools. I've used the NPP2018 for about a month and have trimmed well over 200 tree limbs from 1 to 8 inches. In the past, I used a "man-powered" pole saw or resorted to the unsafe practice of climbing and cutting using the wrong tools. Simply put, the NPP2018 makes my job so much easier and safer and considerably reduces the time needed to accomplish this task. I ordered an extra battery and it is definitely needed if you have heavy cutting to do--one battery lasts me about 1 to 1.5 hours of steady cutting. Everything about this tool is quality for the money, including the carrying/storage case which neatly fits the three sections. You do need to manually oil the chain each time you use it, but that's easy and no problem for me. Plenty of power and cuts very fast until the battery runs down. So far my chain remains sharp, but I will soon buy a spare chain (of course, someone local can professionally sharpen these chains just like with larger chainsaws). The only regret I have is not finding this item years ago!

This was purchased to enable trimming of limbs too large for our manual pole pruner. My husband and I have been very pleased with how well it works.
